The Latte Spoon was originally named the Toddy Spoon. In the 1930s, when Kay Bojesen designed the spoon, hot toddy was all the rage, and the spoon was perfect for this as it was long enough to stir the sugar at the bottom of the tall glass. Back then, nobody had heard of café latte and chai, and they did not drink tea from tall glasses or mugs. As not many drink toddy nowadays, renaming the Grand Prix spoon the ‘Latte Spoon’ seemed an obvious choice. Besides hot drinks, the Latte Spoon is also great for ice-cream desserts served in tall glasses or for taller jars.
